Hands-on practice

Step 1: Select the complete table A1:C5, including the Task, Owner, Status header row.

Step 2: Choose Data > Create filter view. Verify the green temporary filter-view bar appears and shows Range: A1:C5; do not choose Create a filter, which changes the normal sheet view.

Step 3: Confirm the temporary filter view shows filter controls in the header row while all source rows remain present. Use this view for collaborator-specific filtering or sorting without changing the shared normal view.

Step 4: Click the X at the right end of the filter-view bar. When Sheets asks “Save your temporary view?”, click Don't save. Verify the normal sheet view returns with all source rows unchanged.
