Practice in your own copy
Make your own Google Sheets copy with the same data, formulas, formatting, filter and frozen header. The original remains unchanged.

Hands-on practice
Step 1: Select A1:D4 — only the header row and the three data rows that need to be printed. Do not include extra blank rows or columns; this selection is what Selected cells will use in the print screen.
Step 2: Choose File > Print. In the Print setting on the right, choose Selected cells (A1:D4) so only the selected table is printed. Then inspect Orientation, Scale, and Margins; for this small table, keep a scale that places all four columns on one page.
Step 3: Inspect the preview on the left. You should see all four columns — Item, Qty, Unit price, and Line total — plus all three rows for Pen, Notebook, and Folder on the same page. If a column is clipped or moves to another page, adjust Scale, Orientation, or Margins and recheck before choosing Next.
Checkpoint
| Item | Qty | Unit price | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pen | 3 | 5 | 15 |
| Notebook | 2 | 20 | 40 |
| Folder | 1 | 12 | 12 |
Pass when the preview shows all of A1:D4 on one page: all 4 columns and 3 data rows are visible, with no clipped columns or unnecessary blank area included.
Common mistakes and fixes
Do not choose Next merely because the Print screen opened. Use the preview as the checkpoint: the entire table must be readable and fit on the page as intended.
Independent practice
Select a different small range in the workbook, open File > Print, and compare Current sheet with Selected cells to see how the print scope changes. Do not choose Next; return to the sheet after checking.
Key takeaways
- ✓Select exactly A1:D4 so the print scope contains only the intended table, without extra blank rows or columns.
- ✓Open File > Print and choose Selected cells (A1:D4) so only the selected range is printed.
- ✓Inspect Orientation, Scale, and Margins in Print settings; for this table, Landscape, Fit to width, and Normal margins keep the whole table on one page.
- ✓Use the preview as the checkpoint: Item, Qty, Unit price, Line total and all three Pen, Notebook, and Folder rows must be visible.
- ✓If the table is clipped or includes unnecessary blank space, reselect the exact range or adjust Scale, Orientation, or Margins before continuing.
