Learning objectives
Open the practice workbook
Practice in your own copy
Make your own Google Sheets copy with the same data, formulas, formatting, filter and frozen header. The original remains unchanged.
Sign in to Google. If the original is not publicly shared, download the full workbook and import it into Google Sheets, or paste the example data into your own sheet.
Hands-on practice
Step 1: Confirm the source table is still A1:C4 with headers Item, Qty, Amount and the three rows Pen, Notebook, and Folder.
Step 2: Open File > Download. In the submenu, move the pointer to Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), as shown, then click it to download an Excel copy.
Step 3: Open File > Download again. Move the pointer to PDF (.pdf), as shown, then click it to continue to the PDF export settings.
Step 4: Return to the Google Sheet, select A1:C4, and verify the headers and all three sample rows still match the checkpoint. Downloading copies must not rewrite the source cells.
Checkpoint
| Item | Qty | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Pen | 3 | 15 |
| Notebook | 2 | 40 |
| Folder | 1 | 12 |
Checkpoint for “Download as Excel and PDF”: the Item, Qty, Amount columns and sample records must still match this table after the lesson action.
Common mistakes and fixes
Correction: return to the exact range and command named in the steps, then compare the live sheet with the Item, Qty, Amount source fields.
Independent practice
Add one row with the same schema, repeat the action, verify the new row behaves correctly, then remove it to restore the sample.
