Practice in your own copy
Make your own Google Sheets copy with the same data, formulas, formatting, filter and frozen header. The original remains unchanged.
Sign in to Google. If the original is not publicly shared, download the full workbook and import it into Google Sheets, or paste the example data into your own sheet.
Hands-on practice
Step 1: Select A1:D5 and confirm the table has exactly four columns—Day, Subject, Minutes, Status—and rows 2–5 run from Mon through Thu with no blank row or column inside the table.
Step 2: Check each column: Day and Subject contain text, Minutes contains only the numbers 45, 30, 60, 40, and Status contains Done or Planned. Fix any value that is in the wrong column before formatting.
Step 3: Select A1:D1, click Bold on the toolbar, open Fill color, and choose a light green. Confirm only the header row is formatted and the table still occupies A1:D5.
Checkpoint
| Day | Subject | Minutes | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon | Math | 45 | Done |
| Tue | English | 30 | Done |
| Wed | Science | 60 | Planned |
| Thu | History | 40 | Planned |
Checkpoint for “Set up a clean sheet for Weekly study plan”: the Day, Subject, Minutes, Status columns and sample records must still match this table after the lesson action.
Common mistakes and fixes
If the result differs from the checkpoint, check the A1:D5 layout, the data type of C2:C5, and the formatting range A1:D1 in that order; correct only the failing part and compare the four sample rows again.
Independent practice
Add one row with the same schema, repeat the action, verify the new row behaves correctly, then remove it to restore the sample.
Key takeaways
- ✓Keep the table rectangular in A1:D5 with no blank row or column inside the data.
- ✓Use one field per column: Day, Subject, and Status are text; Minutes is numeric.
- ✓Format A1:D1 with bold text and a light-green fill so the headers are visually distinct.
- ✓After testing a change, restore the four sample rows to the checkpoint.
